Several loan players from Manchester United are fighting to prove their worth ahead of a crucial summer.

The club are expected to make big decisions, particularly with uncertainty surrounding multiple attacking options and potential exits.

At the same time, United’s push for Champions League qualification under Michael Carrick means everything is being assessed.

And one such performance has sparked debate.

During Barcelona’s 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid last night, frustration boiled over following a controversial refereeing decision that could escalate further.

According to Foot Mercato, Barcelona are seriously considering filing a formal complaint with UEFA, after a second-half handball incident involving Marc Pubill inside the penalty area was waved away.

The reaction from players was immediate.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford did not hold back in his post-match assessment.

“It’s clear. It’s a penalty, it’s a penalty. It’s happened before and it’s always been given as a penalty.

“It’s not a question of common sense. Common sense dictates that it’s a penalty.

“That’s everyone’s reaction. It’s even the reaction of his own players. I don’t understand it. It’s happened to me before and it’s always been given as a penalty.

“If it happens to us, we have the right to complain. If he wanted his teammate to shoot, he should have passed the ball to him with his hand.

“He passes it with his foot and Pubill touches it with his hand. For me, it’s a penalty.”

Rashford started the match and played 90 minutes, registering 3 shots, completing 2 successful dribbles, and recording 27 touches in total.

He also created 1 key chance and completed 85% of his passes, showing flashes of attacking intent.

Operating from a wide role, he was one of Barca’s more direct outlets.

Rashford’s situation is becoming one of the more intriguing stories heading into the summer.

Marcus Rashford is currently on loan at Barcelona but a permanent move is far from agreed, with negotiations still ongoing.

It was reported that Barca missed the deadline to sign Rashford for £26 million.

Sporting director Deco is expected to meet the England international’s agent later this week, as Barcelona assess whether a deal can be completed within their financial constraints.
