Marcus Rashford’s return to form during his loan spell with Barcelona is continuing, with the attacker having added another goal to his tally against Elche.
So far this season, Rashford’s made 32 appearances for the La Liga champions, helping them to hold the top spot in the Spanish league and remain in all competitions with his ten goals and 12 assists.
However, since his departure from Manchester United, a lot has changed at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff have all been dismissed, making wayfor Michael Carrick as a caretaker manager for the rest of the season.
Rashford’s initial departure came after the public breakdown of his relationship with Ruben Amorim, ultimately seeing him sent out on loan to Aston Villa in the 2024 winter transfer window.
Now that Amorim has gone, the door could well be open for a United return for Rashford, with Carrick reportedly wanting his former teammate to return to his side.
The pair played together for United throughout the 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2027/18 seasons until Carrick hung up his boots for good.
At that point their relationship shifted, with Carrick becoming an assistant manager before his first stint as interim manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left the hot seat.
However, the history between the pair isn’t enough to make the England international want to return, with The Mirror reporting that Marcus Rashford is keen to stay with Barcelona.
The move to Camp Nou was long-marked as a dream move for Rashford after his time was seemingly up at Old Trafford.
Now, given the success of the loan spell, Barcelona are understood to have greenlit discussions over retaining the attacker.
The Spanish giants have an optional buy clause for £26 million, agreed when the loan deal was put in place.
However, the report also adds that should Barcelona opt against retaining the star for whatever reason, Marcus Rashford would be looking to join another club rather than his boyhood team.
