Luis Henrique is the player who Inter Milan have earmarked as the long-term replacement for Matteo Darmian at right-wingback.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews.
Nothing is official just yet. However, it looks to be only a matter of time before Inter Milan complete a deal to sign winger Luis Henrique from Marseille.
The Nerazzurri have agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old. And they have also reached an agreement with Marseille.
Therefore, Inter’s aim looks to be to complete a deal for Henrique well before the start of the Club World Cup in June.
Moreover, the Corriere della Sera note, Henrique could even be in the stands for the Champions League final this weekend, watching on in Munich as his future teammates take on PSG.
Inter Milan see Luis Henrique as a player to reinforce the right-wingback position.
Therefore, the Brazilian could be the main backup for Denzel Dumfries starting next season.
For the past several seasons, it has been Matteo Darmian who has held down that spot.
The veteran former Manchester United and Parma defender has been a reliable player on the right flank. He has also proven capable of playing on the left or in the back three.
In fact, there have even been spells over the last few seasons when Darmian has been the first-choice starter ahead of Dumfries.
However, Darmian turns 36 next season. Despite his reliability and versatility, Inter will be phasing him out sooner rather than later.
Moreover, Darmian’s current contract with Inter runs out at the end of June 2026.
Therefore, reports the Corriere della Sera, Inter have made Luis Henrique the long-term replacement for the Italian international.,
