Mason Greenwood to leave Marseille

Mason Greenwood’s future is once again uncertain as the summer transfer window approaches.

Currently at Marseille, the former English international has been highly successful through breaking his own record of goals and assists in one season.

His second season in France has also seen him match a feat set by Ballon O’Dor winner Jean-Pierre Papin through scoring four times in one game in the early stages of the campaign.

Under the facade of success, however, tensions have been rising with Mason Greenwood previously clashing with Director of Football Medhi Benatia with the Director reported to be a vocal critic of the Englishman.

With him excelling on the pitch, with him nominated for the UNFP awards, equivalent to the PFA awards in England, many clubs could eye a move in the upcoming window.

Now, according to L’Equipe, the rift between Mason Greenwood and Benatia is enormous with the two openly ignoring each other on a daily basis.

The outlet have also stated that, whilst he has made genuine bonds within the squad, his lack of commitment stands out with him not attending French cases (which are mandatory), not attending appointments, and arguing that everyone spoke English in the changing room.

Now, the outlet report that it appears that Greenwood is waiting for an inevitable departure but a move will not be simple.

Paris FC have already been linked with a move with the French outfit even preparing a bid to sign the 24-year-old. With sell-on clauses to consider, Manchester United could benefit from a move although the extent of this would depend on the fee that he is sold for.

It appears that Greenwood’s latest chapter is coming to an end but, with no new club yet apparent, he will have to be patient in the aim of a move away.
