Frederic Massara is set to be appointed as the new Roma sporting director after Florent Ghisolfi’s exit.
Former Milan director Massara is ready to return to Serie A after a one-year spell at Rennes.
The 56-year-old will move to Roma, replacing Ghisolfi, whose departure from the Stadio Olimpico was confirmed on Tuesday.
Sources with direct knowledge of the matter inform me that Ghisolfi was already at risk as of last December.
Massara returns to Serie A after contributing to Milan’s 2021-22 Serie A title victory alongside Paolo Maldini.
Roma have also appointed a new coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, who was unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday.
Massara had already worked as Roma’s sporting director between 2016 and 2017, as well as during a brief spell in 2019.
The 56-year-old spent four seasons at Milan, from 2019 to 2023, before his latest spell at Rennes in the French Ligue 1.
Roma will make their 2025-26 Serie A debut on the weekend of August 24 against Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico.
