Max Jones has officially joined Manchester United, becoming the latest new arrival at Old Trafford during Michael Carrick’s first full season in charge.

Max Jones might sound like the sort of footballer name created on the spot, but believe us, his arrival carries genuine value and promise for the club.

United spent heavily during the summer.

However, their recruitment concentrated overwhelmingly on midfield.

Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans arrived before Carlos Baleba completed a deal worth up to £70 million, while goalkeeper Karl Darlow also joined.

However, no major senior defensive reinforcement followed, and that decision has already been tested.

Matthijs de Ligt only recently returned to full training following back surgery, while Noussair Mazraoui was forced off representing Morocco during the international break.

Luke Shaw has also endured fitness problems this season.

United’s results have hardly helped.

Carrick’s side have collected just five points from their opening five Premier League matches, winning only once, while Brighton also eliminated them from the Carabao Cup.

Changes are clearly required somewhere as United attempt to rediscover the momentum which carried them to third place last season.

Now another new face has arrived at Old Trafford.

Who is Max Jones?

Despite the timing, Jones has not been signed to strengthen Carrick’s playing squad.

Jones announced on LinkedIn that he has started a new full-time role with Levy as part of the Retail Operations team for Manchester United.

His profile lists the position as based on-site at Old Trafford from October 2026.

Jones wrote that he was “delighted” to begin the new chapter and described United as an “incredible organisation and iconic football club”, adding that he hopes to develop his skills and progress within the organisation.

He arrives with considerable experience in football hospitality.

Jones spent more than four years working at Stockport County, initially as a Food and Beverage Assistant between July 2022 and July 2023.

He was subsequently promoted to Bar and Events Supervisor, holding that position for over three years before leaving Stockport in October.

His move therefore represents another behind-the-scenes addition at Old Trafford as United continue making changes across different areas of the club.
