Undefeated Belgian middleweight Boris Mbarga Atangana will face his toughest challenge yet when he meets former UFC fighter Bryan Battle at PFL Lyon on December 19.
Atangana enters the bout with a perfect 9-0 record and a 100% finish rate, per Sherdog. The 27-year-old has stopped every opponent inside the distance with seven knockouts and two submissions. All four of his PFL wins have ended early, three in the opening round. His most recent outing lasted just 65 seconds as he knocked out UFC veteran Jared Gooden at PFL Brussels.
Battle carries a 13-3 record with one no contest and brings significant cage time from his UFC stint. The Season 29 Ultimate Fighter winner went 7-1 with one no contest during his Octagon run. He has history in France after stopping Kevin Jousset at UFC Paris in 2024 and taunting the crowd afterward. "I know y'all didn't think The Butcher was going to lose in a fist fight to a French dude," Battle said following that finish.
The matchup pits Atangana's unbeaten streak and finishing power against Battle's veteran savvy and proven ability to perform in hostile European territory. Battle will step into another French-speaking venue against a Belgian knockout artist looking to continue his perfect start.
The bout takes place at LDLC Arena in Lyon with PFL Europe announcing the pairing on social media September 11.
