Facundo Buonanotte is set to have his Chelsea medical in London on Sunday ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge according to Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea reached an agreement with Brighton to sign Buonanotte on a season loan earlier this week, in a move which took many by surprise.

The 20-year-old is set to provide cover at both number ten and on the right wing, but quite how much he’s going to play remains to be seen.

Facundo Buonanotte to undergo Chelsea medical

Chelsea announced the signing of Alejandro Garnacho on Saturday, and the expectation was they would also sign Xavi Simons.

However, Chelsea never made a bid for Simons in the end and he ended up joining rivals Tottenham, with the Blues instead switching their focus to Buonanotte.

Chelsea are reportedly convinced by the quality of Buonanotte, who spent last season on loan at Leicester where he scored six goals and registered three assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.

The Argentina international will link up with both Garnacho and Enzo Fernandez, and Romano has now provided an update on the situation.

He took to X.com and said:

“Facundo Buonanotte will undergo medical tests in London as new Chelsea player today.

“All documents are ready with Brighton for loan move.”

Chelsea to recall Nicolas Jackson

With Buonanotte on his way, Nicolas Jackson was set to finalise his move to Bayern Munich, but there’s been a major twist.

Liam Delap got injured in the win against Fulham, and is set to miss up to eight weeks, and the Blues have now decided to cancel Jackson’s loan to Bayern.

The 24-year-old has been ordered to return to Chelsea, which he isn’t happy about, and he’s currently still in Munich with his agent in an attempt to resurrect the move, but with nothing signed he’s not in a strong position here.
