The hiring of Michael Carrick has drawn plenty of media coverage this week.
Carrick was announced as interim manager earlier this week after Ruben Amorim was sacked as head coach following a 1-1 draw away to Leeds United.
He made the decision to bring in a coaching staff, including Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate and Under-18 boss Travis Binnion.
Carrick has also brought in ex-teammate Jonny Evans, which drew criticism from former United captain Roy Keane.
The appointment of Carrick itself drew criticism from Keane during the episode.
“Well, his wife can always come in because she’s got a bit of a big mouth sometimes. She’s probably doing the team talk”, said Keane on Stick to Football.
Speaking in the pre-Manchester City press conference, Carrick spoke on Keane’s comments.
“Honestly, it didn’t bother me.
“They’re not putting more pressure on me, I don’t feel that.
“It’s just part of it. I understand the role, there’s plenty of opinions around, some are positive, some aren’t so much.
“It is the way of the world, I’m not going to pay too much attention to most of that. It’s not for me to do that.
“For me and the players and the staff it’s a focus on how we’re going to succeed. That’s our job, that’s our responsibility, that’s what our focus and our minds should be at, is doing what we can for this club.”
For Michael Carrick, he will undergo a baptism of fire as United interim manager, with his first game in the role tomorrow in the Premier League early kickoff as they face Manchester City.
After the Manchester Derby, United then face an away game against league leaders Arsenal, who have conceded seven goals in all competitions all season and did not allow a goal from September 28th until 8th November.
