Massimiliano Allegri is pressuring Adrien Rabiot to convince him to join Milan. They wouldn’t need to negotiate with Olympique Marseille since he has a €10M release clause. The Rossoneri instead need to work on the player, Corriere della Sera relays (via Tuttomercatoweb).

The salary wouldn’t be a massive problem. He settled for €3.5M plus easy-to-achieve bonuses last summer, pocketing about €6M. On the other hand, the 30-year-old is inclined to participate in the Champions League with his current team. He strongly contributed to the qualification, scoring 9 goals and providing 5 assists in 29 Ligue 1 matches in 2024/2025.

Rabiot isn’t the only option on the Milan radar to succeed Tijjani Reijnders. The Dutchman will join Manchester City for a €57M fee plus €13M add-ons. Luka Modric will put pen to paper after the upcoming Croatia matches. His contract will have an option for a second season.

The Rossoneri are eyeing Lazio to bolster the position and have shortlisted Matteo Guendouzi and Niccolò Rovella. Igli Tare and Allegri wish to add more Italian players to the squad, but the former is better suited for what they are looking for. They are also tracking Midtjylland’s Raphael Onyedika. However, he’s an extra-EU player. They might opt not to fill one of the only two spots for those signings too soon.

Our Take on Milan and Rabiot

He’d make some sense given his familiarity with the boss, who doesn’t like overly offensive-minded contributors. Flanking Modric with him and Youssouf Fofana would have strong chances of working out. On the other hand, it’d be another short-term move. They have to sign Samuele Ricci this summer after chasing after him for multiple years.
