While it seems inevitable Sergio Conceicao will leave , Milan are still all at sea finding a new coach, with Maurizio Sarri, Roberto De Zerbi, Max Allegri and Vincenzo Italiano suggested.

The Rossoneri already seemed unlikely to confirm the Portuguese boss on their bench for next season, but his fate was sealed by last night’s 1-0 Coppa Italia Final defeat to Bologna.

Now the race is on to find a replacement, having already sacked Stefano Pioli last year and then Paulo Fonseca on December 30.

Milan seek new coach to replace Conceicao

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the focus is on bringing in an Italian coach who already knows Serie A well, especially if they continue to be without a director of sport figure to help him.

Their new favourite is Italiano, whose Bologna doomed Conceicao last night, but he is in talks to extend his current contract at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

De Zerbi is also unlikely to be drawn away from Olympique Marseille after securing their Champions League qualification.

This leaves free agents like Allegri, who seems to be much closer to the Roma job than a return to Milan, and Sarri.

It is hardly the first time that Sarri has been approached by the Rossoneri, as he was even in talks when Silvio Berlusconi was still the President.

The 66-year-old has been a free agent since walking away from Lazio in March 2024.
