Milan are finalising the last remaining details for a sale of defender Malick Thiaw to Premier League side Newcastle United, and have two young Italian centre-backs on their wishlist to replace him, Football Italia understands.
As per Michele Criscitiello, Newcastle have reached an agreement with Milan to sign German centre-back Thiaw for a fee of €35m plus up to €5m in bonuses. As things stand, it’s just the last few details that are left to be finalised.
Once everything has gone through, Milan will power ahead with their search to provide Massimiliano Allegri with a replacement.
Two young Italian defenders in Giovanni Leoni and Pietro Comuzzo have been on the Rossoneri shortlist for several weeks.
Leoni, currently with Parma, is valued in the region of €40m i.e. the same as what Milan are expected to receive from the sale of Thiaw.
Comuzzo, meanwhile, is valued slightly lower by his current employers at Fiorentina, whoa re seeking a fee in the region of €30m.
