Benjamin Sesko has ended up on AC Milan’s radar and their interest is indeed concrete, according to a report. The striker has a hefty price tag but the Rossoneri are willing to invest, knowing that it will take around €50m.

Olivier Giroud will leave Milan at the end of the season, having reached an agreement with LAFC, and the management is now working on replacing him. Sesko has emerged as one of the top targets, as reported in today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below).

Milan’s interest revitalised

Although, Sesko has impressed a lot since he joined RB Leipzig, Milan’s interest dates back to his time at RB Salzburg. In fact, the striker’s agent Elvis Basanovic went to Casa Milan in the summer of 2022 to meet with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara.

However, back then, Milan were not in a position to invest that much money. Two years later, the interest has been revitalised and that’s mainly because the Rossoneri now have the money. A profit is expected to be made for the 2023-24 financial year as well, meaning they are certainly in line with UEFA regulations and so on.

In addition to Sesko, Joshua Zirkzee remains a target for Milan and as per the paper, the feeling is that one of them will arrive. The Leipzig star has seemingly leapfrogged the Bologna man and a recent meeting confirms that.

€50m is ready

Indeed, Basanovic visited Milano in recent days (as confirmed on his Instagram) and he had a meeting with Milan to discuss Sesko. The negotiation is complex, there is no doubt about it, but it’s one that the Rossoneri can justify putting a lot of effort into.

Sesko has a release clause in his contract which, by the end of the season, will be worth at least €50m. Milan are ready to spend €50m on a striker, knowing that this position generally is expensive these days and that a name for the future is needed.

It would be a record transfer for Milan, having paid €42m for Leo Bonucci in 2017, and the expectations would certainly be very high. Having said that, Leipzig could decide to ask for even more than €50m, especially if several clubs express a concrete interest.

The price will certainly be discussed more in the coming weeks, but the certainty is that Milan are very interested in the Slovenian No.9. They see him as the perfect replacement for Olivier Giroud and it’s hard to argue against that logic.
