Netflix has released the official trailer for their new film starring Millie Bobby Brown, Damsel.

Directed by the Oscar-nominated Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Damsel follows Elodie, a dutiful damsel who agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.

Fresnadillo's previous films include 28 Weeks Later, Intacto and the short film Esposados. Damsels will be his first feature since his 2011 film Intruders, starring Clive Owen.

Joining Millie Bobby Brown in the cast of Damsel are Robin Wright, Angela Bassett, Nick Robinson, Brooke Carter, Ray Winstone and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

The first trailer shows how Elodie's fairytale life quickly turns into a nightmare when she plummets into the dark depths of a cave, where trials to prevent her freedom await.

As well as leading the film, Millie Bobby Brown serves as executive producer alongside Sue Baden-Powell, Mark Bomback, Robert Brown and the film's writer, Dan Mazeau.

Damsel will be available to stream on Netflix on March 8, 2024.
