Minnesota United unveiled their long teased third kit Wednesday ahead of a pivotal clash against LAFC at Allianz Field. It is the first time since joining MLS the United will have a third kit option.
In a nod to Minnesota soccer history, the 'Heritage Kit' is a significant departure from MNUFC's usual jersey. Out goes the usual sky blue, black, and gray as a darker blue, along with orange feature across the jersey. In the team's unveiling of the jersey, the club says the new colors are "a tribute to the Minnesota Kicks," who played in Minnesota from 1976 to 1981 as part of the NASL.
An argyle pattern of darker and lighter blues adorn the top half of the jersey, with lines of orange across the collar, sleeve and sides. The argyle is a callback to a popular pattern design across world soccer during the late 1970s, early '80s.

The usual Target sponsor logo has been moved from the front of the kit to back, near the bottom of the jersey. In it's place is the Loons wording in the iconic Kicks-type font. Also, the Loons crest on the top left of the jersey has been modified to showcase just the loon with an orange eye, instead of the usual red.
On the bottom left of the jersey is a stylized loon in a kicking motion, inspired by the original Minnesota Kicks logo.
The jerseys will be worn four times during the regular season:
A "limited quantity" of the jerseys and accompanying apparel went on sale at the Minnesota United team store at Allianz Field at 9 a.m. CT Wednesday.
