
Red Bull New York is moving on from oft-injured winger Lewis Morgan, according to a report by Tom Bogert of The Athletic.
New York will reportedly receive an MLS SuperDraft pick from San Diego FC in exchange for Morgan. The Red Bulls will retain some of Morgan's salary as part of the trade.
Red Bull New York head of sport Julian de Guzman has been busy this offseason. Since his promotion to head of sport, the club has moved on from notable players like Morgan, goalkeeper Carlos Coronel, midfielder Peter Stroud and right-back Kyle Duncan.
When he was healthy, Morgan was influential for the Red Bulls. He was a key member of the team that led New York to the 2024 MLS Cup. The Red Bulls lost the match 2-1 to the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Now, he will have to prove his fitness to San Diego after he appeared in only three matches last season.
San Diego enjoyed an incredible debut MLS season by finishing top of the Western Conference and reaching the 2025 Western Conference Final . Head coach Mikey Varas will hope that Morgan is healthy and able to add to the Azules' attack.
Morgan scored 31 goals in 82 appearances across all competitions for the Red Bulls over four seasons. He joined New York from Inter Miami in December 2021.
The 29-year-old winger has made seven international appearances for Scotland's national football team. Morgan last played for Scotland as an 89th-minute substitute against Hungary in their final Euro 2024 group stage match on June 23, 2024.
