Noussair Mazraoui featured as Morocco drew 1-1 with Ecuador on Friday evening, in the first of two games that kickstart their preparation for the upcoming FIFA World Cup finals in North America this summer.

The Manchester United defender, who was recently declared the winner of AFCON following a judgement from CAF, started and played the entire game.

In this time, he made three tackles whilst also winning 71% of his ground duels, helping to limit attacks from the Ecuador attacking frontline.

It appears, without any injuries, that the 28-year-old will feature in the World Cup this summer, where Morocco will face Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.

Therefore, this game could be viewed as a preview of what talents he will bring to the upcoming tournament which is held across the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada.

The Moroccan media have now been reacting to the performance as they draw conclusions from the result ahead of upcoming games.

Sports Dunia gave Noussair Mazraoui a 6.8 out of ten, but mainly focused on the rescue of Neil El Aynaoui in the closing stages of the match by getting the equaliser.

Morocco World News focused on the team, with the outlet explaining that the “performance offered encouraging signs.”

AlMountakhab, meanwhile, took a more specific focus on Mazraoui explaining: “He, too, didn’t venture forward much and focused on the defensive side.

“He was forced to adhere to this role for most of the match, and his tackles were successful and error-free.

“The attackers didn’t get past him thanks to his pragmatism, good concentration, and rational presence. He performed his defensive duties well and without errors in the absence of attacking spaces.”

With this reaction now displayed, attention will turn towards Morocco’s next fixture against Paraguay on Tuesday evening.
