Mourinho convinces 'greedy' Manchester United outcast, but £15m fee too low?

Jose Mourinho has convinced Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho to join Fenerbahce during this summer window to bolster their attack. The Red Devils are planning to sell a lot of their surplus players, starting with those who returned from loan.

After Sancho had an infamous public fallout with former United manager Erik ten Hag, he completed two different loan spells. The 25-year-old spent last season on a season-long loan move to league rivals Chelsea, having an obligation to buy clause.

Sancho triggered that obligation by making consistent appearances for the London club to help them achieve next season’s Champions League. Furthermore, the England international won the UEFA Conference League with Chelsea by beating Real Betis convincingly in the final match.

Sancho scored five goals and provided 10 assists during his season-long loan, making 42 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions. However, inconsistencies continued to bother the Englishman as Chelsea opted not to permanently sign him, considering his wage demands unrealistic.

The London rivals paid a £5 million penalty instead of securing the deal worth up to £25 million for Sancho. According to GiveMeSport, Mourinho has convinced Sancho to take a pay cut to leave United and join Fenerbahce this summer.

The 25-year-old could accept a £165,000-a-week wage from the Turkish giants, but they’re willing to pay only £15m to United. The Red Devils are holding out for a transfer fee of around £25m for the Englishman amid interest from Serie A clubs, Juventus and Napoli.

United will suffer a massive loss over Sancho, as they signed him for £73m from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. However, they might be forced to decide whether to hassle the interested party for more transfer fees or let Sancho’s wages off their expenses.

Furthermore, the Red Devils cannot invest their time and focus on every surplus player the want to sell this summer. Under Ruben Amorim, United are planning a massive squad overhaul to make sure last season’s embarrassment will not repeat itself.
