Myles Lewis-Skelly asking price rejected by Manchester United

Myles Lewis-Skelly has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young players in English football.

The 19-year-old came through Arsenal’s academy before breaking into Mikel Arteta’s senior squad during the 2024/25 campaign.

He has already collected major honours despite his age.

Lewis-Skelly was part of the Arsenal squad that won the Premier League last season, while the Gunners also reached both the EFL Cup and Champions League finals.

He started the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain and became one of the youngest English players ever to start the showpiece.

The versatile talent can operate as a left-back or in midfield, making him and interesting profile for Manchester United.

United have already strengthened Michael Carrick’s midfield with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer.

However, the Red Devils are still working on adding a third midfielder before the transfer window closes.

United have explored a move for Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall.

However, the Magpies appear unwilling to sell him.

Lewis-Skelly therefore offers an intriguing alternative because of his ability to cover both areas.

Manchester United rejected proposed deal

According to Gary Jacob of The Times, Manchester United were also ‘sounded out’ over signing Myles Lewis-Skelly earlier this year.

The report states that an intermediary offered the Arsenal youngster to United in January.

At that stage, United were told a deal would cost approximately £60 million.

However, Manchester United ‘balked’ at that valuation and chose not to pursue the transfer.

The situation has now developed again after Lewis-Skelly was offered to Chelsea this summer.

Arsenal may consider selling after completing the £75 million signing of Bruno Guimaraes, which has increased competition in midfield.

Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino are also among Arteta’s options.

The Times adds that United are not interested in Lewis-Skelly this time around.

That is despite the club previously placing him on their radar and continuing to assess options capable of strengthening Carrick’s squad.

For now, Chelsea appear to be a more realistic destination if Arsenal decide to cash in on their academy graduate.
