Wilfried Nancy detailed the conversation he had with his Celtic squad in the aftermath of last night’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Dundee United at Tannadice…

Daizen Maeda struck inside the opening quarter of an hour, but Jim Goodwin’s side turned the contest on its head after the break through goals from Krisztian Keresztes and Zach Sapsford to secure a 2–1 victory.

The loss for the Scottish champions marked a fourth successive loss for Nancy, intensifying the scrutiny on the Frenchman barely two weeks into his reign at Celtic Park.

Post-match, the Celtic manager revealed the key points he addressed with his squad inside the dressing room. “I told them what I told you,” he said via PLZ Soccer. “We had really chances and we have to score on one, because if we don’t score, we know that the game is not finished, and after that, we lost the game in three minutes. This is what I told them.”

“And one moment, on this one, we have to be better. We have to be better, because again, the performance was good. We improve, we improve, we improve, and suddenly, boom, we concede a set piece, or second wave, we improve, we improve, we improve, we are close to score goals and to win the game, and suddenly boom again.”

“And they know that on this one, they didn’t do well, and obviously this’s a fact, but at the same time, I repeat myself, I see a lot of improvement because today we deserve to win, but we didn’t win. And at the end of the day, we lost the game.”

Questions have emerged about Nancy’s understanding of the Scottish game, but the 48 year-old dismissed those suggestions following yet another defeat.

Nancy added: “I know Scottish football. I know the way it is. I come from France, I come from Europe. I was close to when I was a player to sign to Carlisle. So I know exactly where I am.

“I know that the Scottish football this is physical, I know that there is a lot of intensity, I know that there is a lot of fights and the referee don’t whistle a lot. I know that.”

“I think that, again, today, since I came here, this is not like we were off the record. But again, in terms of results, because I’m judged on that, you are talking like this. And I take it, but at the end of the day, I think that again, I’m going to repeat myself. We are improving.”
