Napoli eye Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus as Lukaku heads out

Napoli have identified Gabriel Jesus as a potential addition to their attack, with the Arsenal forward the latest name to be linked with a move to Serie A.

According to calciomercato.com , Massimiliano Allegri will build his frontline around Rasmus Højlund, but with Romelu Lukaku’s position now untenable and Lorenzo Lucca short of guarantees, the club are weighing a statement signing behind him, and Jesus fits the bill.

Corriere dello Sport adds that the interest is genuine, with the Brazilian said to have opened to a fresh challenge away from the Premier League; Arsenal value him at around €20m, though Napoli hope the player’s willingness can help them negotiate better terms.

Napoli must clear Lukaku and Lucca before Gabriel Jesus move

Structure and space are the key issues. Citing Fabrizio Romano, calciomercato.com reports that a deal is more feasible on a permanent basis, since a loan would require Arsenal to extend a contract that expires in 2027.

Gabriel Jesus has recently come under the same agency that represents Allegri, a connection that could grease the wheels, and one that also saw him considered by Milan in January.

To make room, both Lukaku, a firm target for Atlanta United in MLS, and Lucca would need to move on.
