Rasmus Hojlund isn’t the only Napoli player missing tomorrow’s game against Inter, as Alex Meret has also been ruled out with a fracture of the second metatarsal in his right foot.
Napoli said on Friday that Meret had suffered an injury during a morning training session on the eve of a Serie A match against Inter at the Stadio Maradona.
“During today’s morning training session, Alex Meret suffered an injury,” Napoli said in a statement.
“The Italian goalkeeper underwent examination at Pineta Grande Hospital, which revealed a fracture of the second metatarsal in his right foot.”
This means that Vanja Milinkovic-Savic will get the nod against Inter tomorrow.
The Partenopei have lost the last two games across all competitions, including a 6-2 Champions League defeat against PSV on Tuesday.
Meret’s injury is not the only bad news for coach Antonio Conte today, as Hojlund has also been ruled out of the Inter game.
In this case, there was no official statement from Napoli, but Sky Sport Italia has reported that the Denmark international didn’t train with the team today and is unfit, even for a bench role.
Hojlund missed the previous two matches against Torino and PSV due to a muscle injury.
