Milan have seen negotiations for the sale of Yunus Musah to Napoli grind to a halt, as their demands are considered excessive after rejecting €23m plus add-ons.
The talks had been moving rapidly at the start of the week and they were widely expected to shake hands imminently.
However, it all fell apart because the Rossoneri rejected the proposal, which was worth €23m plus add-ons.
Napoli are not prepared to go any further, as they believe the offer on the table is more than fair for the USMNT midfielder.
The 22-year-old was purchased from Valencia in the summer of 2023 for €21.2m and is not a regular in the starting XI for Milan.
Musah made 40 competitive appearances this season, contributing three assists, but only 26 of those games were from the start.
Napoli director of sport Giovanni Manna is currently in Spain, so fresh talks are not expected until after the weekend.
This is considered a warning that they will not raise the bid any higher, so are ready to turn towards a different target unless Milan lower their expectations.
