Napoli are aiming to make the most of Scott McTominay Mania in the wake of the Scudetto triumph by copyrighting his new nickname.
The Scotland international has become the face of the Serie A title success, not least because he was named Best Overall Player in the League during his debut season.
There were easily more of his shirts in the crowds attending the open top bus parade through the city than any other player.
After a series of nicknames were put to him during a DAZN post-match interview and he chose this as “the best,” he has become known as McFratm.
It is a play on the very Neapolitan slang term for my brother, fratemo, and was seemingly coined by his teammate Pasquale Mazzocchi.
Napoli are always very attentive to marketing opportunities and insist in all their contracts that players sign over their image rights, so saw their chance and placed a trademark registration for ‘McFratm’ on May 16.
