Napoli are considering a move for Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa, reports from Italy claim, after the former Juventus player has been considered surplus to requirements by the Premier League champions.

According to what has been reported by the Corriere dello Sport, Napoli had been caught in two minds over whether to pursue a new winger or a full-back. After missing out on Swiss forward Dan Ndoye to Nottingham Forest, the Neapolitan side turned their attention to Girona defender Miguel Gutierrez but the deal has reportedly been put on hold.

Therefore, Napoli return to their pursuit of a winger.

Chiesa amongst names linked to Napoli

Chiesa is not the only winger linked to Napoli. Two more Premier League outcasts in Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling and Manchester City’s Jack Grealish have been touted as options for Antonio Conte’s side. However, their extreme salaries are somewhat of a deterrent.

Chiesa, on the other hand, earns significantly less than Sterling and Grealish. The Liverpool forward earns around €6 million per season and so is much closer to being within Napoli’s budget.
