Serie A referee Maurizio Mariani will be in charge of Saturday’s blockbuster clash between fierce Scudetto rivals Napoli and Inter Milan.

According to FCInterNews, the 43-year-old will oversee his 19th Serie A fixture involving the Nerazzurri.

Fresh off a 4-0 rout of Royale Union SG, Inter will head to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to take on Napoli.

With nothing but goal difference separating the sides of the kick-off, this fixture has all the makings of an early title six-pointer.

Therefore, the stakes can hardly be higher.

Maurizio Mariani in Charge of Inter Milan vs Napoli Showdown

Maurizio Mariani has often been a lucky charm for Inter.

Indeed, the 20-time Italian champions have won eight of their previous 18 league games under his watch.

Meanwhile, they lost five of the remaining ten matches, with the other five ending as a draw.

However, it’s worth noting that Inter lost their last outing with Mariani in charge, slumping to a 1-0 defeat to Juventus in February.

New manager Cristian Chivu will aim to turn Inter’s fortunes around this time after guiding them to seven successive wins.

Further confidence comes from Napoli’s recent downfall, with Antonio Conte’s side losing two straight games ahead of this fixture.
