Napoli are still looking around for defensive reinforcements and are in talks with both Rennes and Udinese regarding possible deals.
Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis promised to make moves in the January transfer window following the team’s disastrous start to their post-Scudetto campaign. They currently sit 8th in the Serie A table, near the back of the race for a top four finish.
Napoli have already been active in the winter window, completing deals for Cyril Ngonge, Pasquale Mazzocchi and Hamed Junior Traore, adding more options to Walter Mazzarri’s squad. One area that still needs strengthening is the defence.
As reported by TMW, Napoli have highlighted two defenders who they’d like to bring in this month, Rennes’ Arthur Theate and Udinese’s Nehuen Perez.
Both centre backs are contracted to their respective clubs to June 2027 and have relatively similar market values.
Napoli are in close contact with both clubs as they look to pull off a deal, but should things not progress then they’d quickly switch to alternate targets.
