Wingback Denzel Dumfries is set to stay at Inter Milan this summer, with his release clause having expired.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries had a €25 million release clause in his contract.
Moreover, the 29-year-old recently switched agents. He came under the representation of Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes.
That has naturally led to plenty of transfer rumours regarding Dumfries’s future.
However, as Tuttosport note, the release clause meant that clubs would have had to pay the full fee in one lump sum rather than in multiple instalments.
That was a key factor in making the idea of signing Dumfries less attractive to big clubs this summer.
Moreover, Tuttosport report, Dumfries himself was not in any rush to leave Inter. Even despite changing agents, the 29-year-old was not pushing for an exit unless it was to another top European clubs.
Therefore, the newspaper anticipate, Dumfries had little interest in a move to Aston Villa, for example.
Now that Dumfries’s release clause has expired, there would be little scope for a move.
