New Inter Milan center-back Manuel Akanji has arrived in Serie A as one of Europe’s most highly rated defenders.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, he would be better off focusing on his defensive duties.

Manchester City allowed Manuel Akanji to join Inter on the final day of the summer transfer window on a season-long loan.

Yet, the Nerazzurri have a buyout option, which could lead to the Swiss ace’s permanent move to San Siro next summer.

Meanwhile, Akanji’s defensive qualities are unquestionable, as he has built his reputation in one of Europe’s top teams.

However, Cristian Chivu would be wise not to trust the Swiss star when it comes to penalties.

Indeed, Akanji has proved wasteful from the spot, especially when the stakes were high.

For context, he fluffed his lines in the shoot-out against Spain in the EURO 2020 quarter-finals.

Then, he did the same against England in last summer’s tournament, condemning Switzerland to elimination.

Therefore, the 30-year-old should focus on his primary task, which is averting danger in front of Yann Sommer’s goal.
