With all the rumors about top European clubs showing interest, Sheringham explained why he doesn’t think Isak will be leaving Newcastle this summer.
“I think, you know, he’s absolutely lauded as a centre forward in Newcastle, so why would he want to go,” Sheringham said (h/t The Mirror). “He might not want to change. It doesn’t get much better than fans loving you, and your team playing to the best aspects of your game, and you are the focal point. You’re earning good money and you’re in the team.
“You’re playing at the top level and players understand you and your manager loves you. So, you know, you, I’d be very surprised if he would want to go anywhere else at the moment.”
Recently, MARCA reported that Isak is a top target for Barcelona. But with the 25-year-old reportedly valued at around €150 million, the Spanish club considers a move “practically impossible” at that price for him.
The Magpies currently hold a Champions League position for next season, if they maintain their status in the top five, these Isak rumors should go away.
