Manchester United are expected to be active in the upcoming transfer window as the club prepares for changes in midfield with Sandro Tonali among the names under consideration.
A key reason behind that rebuild is the confirmed departure of Casemiro, who already announced he will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the season.
One of the names previously linked with the role is Sandro Tonali, who has established himself as a crucial player for Newcastle United since moving to England.
Tonali already been mentioned as one of the midfielders on United’s shortlist as he club plans for life after Casemiro.
That shortlist also included his club teammate Bruno Guimaraes, who has been recommended by Casemiro.
The other three names in that five-man shortlist are Joao Gomes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace and the highly demanded Elliot Anderson.
However, Newcastle appear determined to keep hold of their Italian star.
According to Tuttosport, the Magpies would demand a fee of around €100 million to consider selling him.
The report suggests that several major clubs across Europe are monitoring the situation ahead of the summer window.
Premier League sides are believed to be among the most interested, with United and Arsenal both tracking the midfielder’s progress.
Tonali has developed into one of the league’s most complete midfielders over the past two seasons, combining technical quality with strong defensive awareness.
Those attributes have helped him become a key figure in Newcastle’s midfield and a regular presence for the Italy national football team.
The 25-year-old’s future is therefore expected to become a major talking point during the summer transfer window.
While clubs across Europe continue to show interest, Newcastle’s reported valuation makes it clear that any potential deal for Tonali would require a huge financial commitment.
