Next USMNT Captain- Premier League Star Favorite To Beat Pulisic & Adams

The USMNT will now have full focus to prepare for the upcoming World Cup after the Gold Cup has concluded. Unable to win the Gold Cup this summer, Mauricio Pochettino will now plan which players to select for the World Cup roster.

Among the decisions he needs to take, Pochettino will also have to choose a captain, and the front runners seem to be Christian Pulisic and Tyler Adams. Both players have experience to captain the USMNT, and Adams was the man with the armband during the 2022 World Cup.

In the 2025 Gold Cup, Tim Ream was the captain of Team USA, and it would be interesting to see if he would be the favorite to wear the armband again, but for the upcoming World Cup.

Chris Richards is favored over Pulisic and Adams

Ream is currently the captain of the USMNT, and his participation in the World Cup is not guaranteed due to his age. He is expected to make the roster, but the team may have a younger captain.

The options lead to players like Richards, Adams, and Pulisic. After the controversy with Pulisic before the Gold Cup and Adams being subbed off in the Final and the semifinal, Richards is seen as the ideal candidate.

His performances at the Gold Cup are praised by Jimmy Conrad, Charlie Davies, and Tony Meola, along with many USMNT fans. He became a standout player for Team USA, and his performances for Crystal Palace have helped him improve on the international level.

Jimmy Conrad believes the captain is a player who stays on the pitch the whole game, which is why Richards seems the ideal option for next summer. The majority of fans believe Richards is the ideal option as the next USMNT captain as well.
