An AC Milan source has just offered a positive update on the Mike Maignan to Chelsea deal that may or may not go ahead.

This news comes after Chelsea beat Real Betis to win the Conference League a week ago today after being a goal down at half time and turning it around.

The Blues ended up winning the game 4-1 in the end after a bit of a Cole Palmer masterclass in the second half, providing two beautiful assists for his team mates to grab crucial goals.

Although head coach Enzo Maresca is once again not willing to get carried away after this by insisting that Chelsea’s target for next season is not going to be winning the Champions League!

Chelsea in for Maignan

It’s pretty clear that Chelsea want to sign a new goalkeeper and they want that to ideally be Mike Maignan of AC Milan.

There has been loads of reports out on it over the last 24 hours, but the latest from Fabrizio Romano was not too positive at all. He says that they are some way off on a fee right now.

However, in Italy they are more positive on Chelsea landing Maignan.

Gap in fee not a problem

Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo put his latest out this morning.

The journalist states there are ‘good relations’ between Chelsea and Milan and this can help a transfer.

Longo indicates that while the London club are yet to make an offer, they would be willing to pay €25m. AC Milan want €30m but the gap in valuation will not be a problem.

Chelsea are ‘strong’ in their chase for the France international and are expected to formalise their first offer quickly.
