There is a lot of uncertainty regarding the change of guard at Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are back in the spotlight, with fresh takeover talks dominating the headlines at N17. The Lilywhites have gone through a lot of chopping and changing in recent weeks after Daniel Levy was unexpectedly axed from his position as the club’s chairman. Not many expected the Lewis family to take such a bold step in removing the Englishman from his position overnight.

Since then, there has been no shortage of speculation about what’s next for the club. Looking to calm the noise, the Lewis family have promised to pump £100m into transfers and wages in the upcoming transfer window. They have also reshaped the club’s hierarchy to focus entirely on football matters, a move that many fans have been calling for.

Earlier this month, the Lewis family made it clear they are determined to get Spurs back to where they belong – competing for and winning trophies. Siblings Vivienne and Charles Lewis have even been spotted at recent home games, showing their intent to take on a more hands-on role in the club’s decision-making.

ENIC unequivocally reject Tottenham takeover talks

The Sun has reported that tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick is leading a consortium that has made a bold move to buy Tottenham. Earick is said to be fronting a £3.3bn takeover bid for the Lilywhites, with an additional £1.2bn earmarked for transfers and wages in the upcoming windows. The group reportedly consists of 12 investors that include stakeholders from the NFL and the NBA.

However, ENIC have wasted no time in ‘unequivocally rejecting’ Earick’s approach. In an official statement released by Tottenham (via Football.london), the club confirms,

“The Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited is aware of recent media speculation and confirms that its majority shareholder, ENIC Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd has received, and unequivocally rejected, an informal expression of interest in relation to a proposal to acquire the entire issued, and to be issued, share capital of the Club from a consortium led by Mr Brooklyn Earick.”

The statement also adds,

“The board of the Club and ENIC reconfirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and ENIC is not looking to sell its stake in the club.”

For now, it is clear that the Lewis family has no plans to part ways with Spurs. Football.london further add that Earick has until October 24 to respond and clarify whether he truly intends to pursue a takeover.

Meanwhile, on the footballing front, it is business as usual at N17. Thomas Frank’s men face Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday, with a win potentially lifting the North Londoners into second place and extending their brilliant start to the new season.
