Lazio midfielder Matias Vecino would skip the second leg against Bodo/Glimt if he collects a yellow card in Thursday’s first leg. The two sides will lock horns in Norway in the first of two contests in the Europa League quarter-final. The decisive fixture will take place at the Stadio Olimpico a week later.

In the first leg, Lazio will miss the services of Nicolo Rovella who earned his marching orders in the first leg of the Round of 16 against Viktoria Plzen, earning himself a two-match ban. With the Italy international staying in Rome, Vecino is expected to start in the double pivot alongside Matteo Guendouzi.

However, the Uruguayan would have to be slightly more careful this time around since he already has two bookings in the competition, so a third yellow card would rule him out of the decisive second leg as per the tournament’s rules.

Vecino missed a large part of the season due to an injury, but returned to action last month. He has thus far assembled 21 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing four assists in the process.

It should be noted that Patric is also one booking away from a Europa League ban, but this isn’t exactly a concern for Baroni, as the Spanish defender is already ruled out of action for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery.
