Paris Saint-Germain to save €200m on Kylian Mbappe exit through unpaid bonuses

In addition to losing their best player, the face of their club, and arguably the best in the world, Paris Saint-Germain will not make a penny on the exit of Kylian Mbappe, presumably to Real Madrid, as his contract runs down. However the amount of money they will save from his departure will make the bitter pill a little easier to swallow.

As reported by Relevo, PSG will save around €200m in total, compromising of unpaid signing bonuses, and contract targets. The €80m loyalty bonus for this season has and will not be paid, making up a significant chunk of that saving. The bonuses he would have been due also comfortably outstrip the second-best paid at PSG, his own wage set at €72m per annum without them. Even so, PSG are still paying off the bill, and Mbappe is due some of the €130m singing bonus for signing a new two-year deal in 2022. All in all, the Parisian side will be saving a considerable amount though.

There is talk that Mbappe’s salary at Real Madrid will be somewhere in the region of that which Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior are earning, which is €12m per annum, albeit he will be the highest-paid in the squad. It is not yet clear whether his signing bonus will make the difference much more vast though. The 25-year-old will also benefit from the so-called ‘Mbappe law‘, which will save him around 20% in taxes if he invests the same money in Madrid.
