Paris Saint-Germain have received bad news about superstar forward Neymar following Wednesday's Coupe de France victory over Caen.
PSG confirmed on Thursday that Neymar suffered a lesion to the left adductor on Wednesday night that will keep him out of action for "around four weeks depending on the evolution of the injury." As a result, the 29-year-old is officially ruled out of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona, his previous club.
Neymar went down due to a harsh challenge in the 56th minute of Wednesday's game but attempted to continue playing through the setback. However, he quickly walked off the pitch with an apparent hip and groin injury and was replaced by Kylian Mbappe.
Paris Saint-Germain were already set to be up against it on Tuesday, as playmaker Angel Di Maria is sidelined with a thigh injury and won't play versus Barca.
PSG face Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League tie on March 10. The timetable for Neymar's recovery could either make him unavailable for that match or leave him only as a substitute due to a lack of fitness.
As things stand on Thursday, Neymar will miss Ligue 1 contests against Nice, AS Monaco, Dijon, and Bordeaux. Paris Saint-Germain sit third in the league table on 51 points, three behind leaders Lille.
