Mason Greenwood keeps on excelling since his move to Marseille last summer, reigniting his footballing career away from Manchester United.

In his debut season for the French club, Greenwood was runner-up for the Top Goalscorer award in Ligue 1 and registered a career best 22 goals and six assists in 36 games.

This year, the 24-year-old is on track to beat that, with 13 goals and four assists in 20 games, including a brace he picked up last night.

Monday evening saw Marseille travel to Belgium to take on Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League, with the former Red Devil being vital in the victory.

Despite Anan Khalaili opening the scoring for Union SG in the fifth minute, Igor Paixao pulled the game back for Marseille ten minutes later.

Then, heading into half-time, Mason Greenwood put his side in front, before going on to grab his second in the second half in the 58th minute.

Although Khalaili also managed a brace in the 71st minute, it wasn’t enough for the Belgian side to get back into the game, with Greenwood having put it beyond doubt.

The former England international not only grabbed a brace but also won Man of the Match, taking to Instagram to show off his award.

In response, The Sun has reported a host of Manchester United players, past and present, have reacted to his post, showing support.

Former Manchester United academy graduate and Newcastle attacker Anthony Elanga, wrote: “Keep it steppin!!”

Meanwhile current Red Devils Diogo Dalot, Joe Hugill and Ethan Wheatley liked the post to show their support.

Greenwoods heroics for Marseille are helping the club to retain a third-place spot in Ligue 1 as well as helping them hold a spot to qualify for the knock-out round of the Champions League, currently in 16th place.
