Patrice Evra stormed out of an interview with Rio Ferdinand as the two clashed on a topic on “Rio Ferdinand Presents”.

Evra, who won five Premier League titles in his time at Manchester United, was infuriated as the two drew attention to the comparisons made between Theo Walcott between the current Arsenal squad and the 2008 Manchester United Champions League-winning squad.

Ferdinand, who partnered with EA Sports last year, asked Evra: “You saw Theo Walcott’s comments about it [the comparisons]?”

The Manchester United legend then answered, stating: “No, I’m leaving.”

Patrice Evra would later go onto return to his seat before properly answering the question with a brutal assessment of Arsenal’s current squad in comparison to United’s 2008 squad and Theo Walcott.

Answering the question, Evra explained: “That’s the problem with Arsenal. Now he’s comparing this team with our 2008 team.

“I think he’s a menace for society. He should not be on TV. He’s dangerous for the kids. That’s why I keep saying they are delusional.

“I know I talk with my heart, but they are delusional. This is disrespect. He should never be on TV again when he starts asking questions like that.”

Manchester United’s memorable 2007-08 Champions League winning campaign

United made more history in the 2007-08 Champions League season with the club winning the trophy for the third time.

Walking in the footsteps of those who had won the competition before, first in the 1967-68 season and then in the 1998/99 season, Manchester United beat Chelsea 6-5 on penalties in the final held in Moscow to secure their third title.

Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra both played imperative parts in this having started in the final.

In the run-up to the final, too, Manchester United beat some of the best teams in Europe with the Red Devils coming up against Lyon, Roma, and Barcelona on their way to the clash against Chelsea.

Other achievements of Manchester United’s 2007-08 season

Manchester United’s success during the 2007-08 season was not just limited to the Champions League with success also following in the Premier League.

Their success during this season, which saw the club clinch the title by just two points, was the 17th in United’s history and helped to further reinforce Sir Alex Ferguson’s legacy at the club.

Drawing comparisons with Arsenal’s current squad

Arsenal currently are still in the Champions League with a semi-final against Atletico Madrid to follow in the upcoming week. Should the Gonners replicate United’s success in this competition, comparisons may be made.

The Premier League title, however, still remains in the balance with just three points separating Arsenal (1st) and Manchester City (2nd) and City have a game in hand.

Five games of the league season (six for Manchester City) remain with it appearing that the battle for the title may go down to the final two or three games of the season.

Mikel Arteta, and his side, may have to win the Premier League if they are to draw more reliable comparisons with Manchester United’s 2007-08 squad.
