Manchester United have confirmed their travelling squad for a four-day training camp in Dublin, with both Patrick Dorgu and Lisandro Martinez included despite ongoing injury recoveries, as announced on the club’s official website.

The camp comes at a crucial stage of the season, with seven Premier League fixtures remaining and United currently pushing to secure a return to the UEFA Champions League.

With no immediate fixture this week ahead of the clash against Leeds United, the trip provides an opportunity for Michael Carrick’s squad to regroup and prepare for the run-in.

This follows the club’s earlier confirmation that a training camp in Ireland would take place, as part of efforts to maintain momentum during a key period of the campaign.

Dorgu and Martinez step closer to returns

The inclusion of both Dorgu and Martinez represents a significant boost for Manchester United.

Patrick Dorgu has not featured since picking up an injury against Arsenal, halting what had been a promising run under Carrick.

The Danish international had been deployed in a more advanced role on the left wing, despite being naturally a left-back or wing-back, and made an immediate impact by scoring in both appearances against Manchester City and Arsenal.

Lisandro Martinez, meanwhile, has been sidelined since suffering an injury during preparations for the Everton clash in February.

Despite winning that game 1-0, his absence has been felt in United’s defensive structure over the five games he has missed, with his aggressive style and composure in possession key to the balance of the side.

As highlighted in his recent off-pitch collaboration, Martinez has remained a visible presence despite injury, but his return to full fitness will be far more significant for United on the pitch.

Forwards: Matheus Cunha, Joshua Zirkzee, Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, Victor Musa.

Tom Heaton and Diogo Dalot were not included in the travelling party as they continue to recover from illness.

Matthijs de Ligt continues to be absent from Manchester United squads with his back injury.

Carrick building momentum ahead of decisive run-in

Manchester United head into the final stretch of the season in strong form under Michael Carrick.

Results have shown clear improvement, with victories over Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa highlighting a period of momentum.

This was alongside draws against West Ham and Bournemouth and a narrow defeat to Newcastle.

That run has positions the Red Devils firmly in the race for Champions League qualifications, with performances showing increased attacking fluency and resilience.

Why Dorgu and Martinez could be key to the run-in

The potential return of both players could have a major impact on United’s approach in the final weeks of the season.

Dorgu’s brief spell on the left wing under Carrick has offered a different dynamic.

He has provided directness and goal threat from a wide position.

His ability to adapt into an advanced role gave United an additional attacking option, particularly in games where more penetration was needed.

Martinez’s importance, however, lies deeper in the structure.

His presence brings aggression, leadership and composure in build-up.

His return would not only strengthen the defence but also improve United’s ability to control games from the back.

With both players now involved in the training camp, Carrick will be hoping they can play a role before the end of the season, adding depth and quality at a crucial time.
