Paul Pogba suffers new injury blow

Paul Pogba’s career has taken plenty of twists since his Manchester United days, with the midfielder now attempting to rebuild his career in France.

The former Red Devils star returned to United in 2016 after previously leaving the club for Juventus in 2012.

His second spell at Old Trafford lasted until June 2022, when his contract expired and he departed for a second time.

Since then, Pogba’s career has been badly disrupted by a succession of physical problems, limiting his ability to build any real consistency.

The Frenchman joined Monaco in 2025 hoping to get his career back on track, but his first season produced only 6 competitive appearances, all in Ligue 1.

Now, Paul Pogba has suffered another setback at the worst possible time, with the midfielder forced out of Monaco training during their pre-season camp at St George’s Park, Nice-Martin reported.

The 33-year-old reportedly broke down during a passing drill, letting out a cry before going to ground and requiring immediate attention from Monaco’s medical staff.

Two members of the club’s backroom team then helped Pogba from the training pitch as concerned teammates watched on.

The incident comes after Pogba had only recently started integrating into full team training again following a difficult period affected by multiple physical problems.

His injury history since arriving at Monaco has included an ankle issue, knee problems, a calf injury and, most recently, a left thigh problem suffered during the current pre-season camp.

The latest setback could also have implications for Pogba’s future in the Principality.

Monaco chief executive Thiago Scuro admitted last month that the club would use the summer to assess whether Pogba remains part of their plans, with his physical progress set to play a major role in the decision.

Scuro said, “It is a complicated topic because we have a lot of respect for Paul, for the person he is. Since he arrived, he has been very positive.

“It is also true that, last year, the project didn’t work well because when we started with him in the summer, the expectations were very different to what happened.

“I think that we have to be fair with him, follow his preparation every week, how he will progress physically and technically and then it will be the manager’s decision.”

The Monaco chief executive also refused to rule out Pogba leaving before the transfer window closes.

He added, “We have the summer to see what level we will see from Pogba. He could [leave at the end of the summer].

“With Paul, it has always been a very open and transparent relationship.”

Pogba’s latest injury arrives at a crucial moment, with Monaco’s hierarchy still deciding what his future should look like.
