Players picking their favorites between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi is an age-old tradition in the sport. Time and again, footballers have chipped in with their stance on the debate as to whether the Portuguese eclipses the Argentine or vice versa. Recently, Sporting CP star Paulinho participated in an existing segment where he was made to pick between a number of superstars.

The clip featured Paulinho preferring Cristiano Ronaldo over every other player, starting from Kylian Mbappe to Thierry Henry and Ronaldo Nazario. The 35-year-old didn’t waste a moment contemplating the same as he was made to pick between Ronaldo and Messi.

‘Cristiano’ said the Sporting striker, who’s been pivotal for the Portuguese side in their journey to the Liga Portugal title. The Sporting No.20 has scored 15 goals in all competitions, his tally second only to Viktor Gyokeres with 29.

The Portuguese forward joined Sporting back in 2021 and has scored 34 goals from 96 appearances. Despite his impressive season, Paulinho was not called up to represent his country for the upcoming Euros.

It is true that records follow Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese legend is set to break yet another landmark record after being selected to lead his country at the upcoming tournament.

The 39-year-old will become the first player to appear at six different editions of the competition. Ronaldo is currently tied with Iker Casillas for five tournaments. Portugal boss Roberto Martinez was confident about the star despite his underwhelming performance for Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Its better to talk about the data for Cristiano. He's a player who scores 42 goals in 42 appearances for his club. This shows his continuity and physical ability to always be fit. Roberto Martinez said in a press conference

The forward is joined by Premier League champions Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias with Bruno Fernandes and Joao Cancelo offering support. Besides Ronaldo, two other players – Otavio and Ruben Neves have also made the 25-man list while playing in the Saudi Pro League. PSG stars Nuno Mendes and Vitinha are also added to the squad.
