Barcelona have reportedly all-but secured their first signing of the summer, although their ongoing managerial uncertainty could lead to complications in wrapped that arrangement up.

Guido Rodriguez has already agreed to join Barcelona at the end of the season when his Real Betis contract expires. Terms have already been decided, but due to Xavi Hernandez’s uncertain position as head coach, Sport have reported that the Argentine pivot is hesitant to commit until the situation has been clarified.

If Xavi stays – which is far from certain at this stage – then the likelihood is that the Rodriguez deal will be finalised. However, if a new manager comes in, especially from outside of the Barcelona inner circle (aka not Rafael Marquez), then the deal could end up being scrapped altogether.

For now, Xavi looks more out than in at Barcelona, which could end Rodriguez’s hopes of signing in the summer. The matter is likely to be clarified in the days after the season’s end.
