‘People keep bringing it up’ – Liverpool ace even has family asking him if he’ll stay at Anfield

One Liverpool player has strongly reaffirmed his commitment to the club and has even had family and teammates asking him to clarify speculation surrounding his future.

Having stared just one match in the Reds’ triumphant Premier League campaign, there have been rumours over a possible summer exit from Anfield for Wataru Endo, who’s reportedly been of interest to Eintracht Frankfurt in recent weeks.

It’d be understandable if, at this stage of his career, the 32-year-old were to seek a move to a club where he’d feature more regularly, but our number 3 has absolutely no intention of leaving Merseyside just yet.

Endo reaffirms his commitment to Liverpool

In an interview with Japanese broadcaster ABEMA, the midfielder was asked if he’d rather remain a bit-part player at Liverpool than become a regular starter elsewhere.

He replied: “Yeah, I’d say so. I really think Liverpool is that kind of club – one that’s worth it. If I have the opportunity to play here, I wouldn’t throw it away just to go somewhere else. I believe that giving it my all here, and helping Liverpool win more titles, is the path to making my career as fulfilling as possible.”

Endo added that even those closest to him have felt compelled to ask about his future, saying: “People keep bringing it up. I’ve gotten messages from friends. Even my family is like, ‘So what are you going to do?’

“Sometimes other players ask too: ‘Are you going to be here next year?’, especially after the middle of the season, but I just say, ‘As far as I’m concerned, I’m staying’.”

Endo embodies everything that Liverpool is about

The Japan captain may have arrived at Liverpool with relatively little fanfare two years ago, but he’s since become a darling of the Kop for his exemplary attitude on and off the pitch.

There were numerous matches during the 2024/25 season where Endo was sprung from the bench to help the Reds see out narrow victories, with the 32-year-old using all of his experience to wind down the clock and ensure that his team got over the line.

The former Stuttgart player has echoes of James Milner towards the latter part of his Anfield career in being a wise ‘father figure’ who mightn’t start regularly but whose presence in the dressing room and value to the squad is hard to overstate, and whose commitment to the cause is faultless.

Our number 3 very much gets what it means to play for Liverpool, never taking that honour for granted and appreciating every minute that he has at this great club.

We don’t doubt in the slightest that Endo will once again be a massively important figure for the Reds next season as they seek to defend their Premier League title.

Tottenham could now pay over the odds to sign 'elite-level player' this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze this summer. The 27-year-old is on the radar of Arsenal as well, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually. Both London clubs are keen on signing the player this summer. He would be an excellent acquisition for the two teams. He will add goals, creativity, and unpredictability in the final third. Tottenham need more quality in the attack, especially after the departure of Son Heung-min. James Maddison has been sidelined for the majority of the upcoming season as well. Eze has proven himself in the Premier League regularly, and he is certainly good enough to play for any club in the country. According to commentator Ian Darke, they could end up paying over the odds to win the race for his signature. He believes that Eze is an elite-level player who would be an absolutely fantastic signing for the north London outfit. Darke on Tottenham move for Eberechi Eze He said to Tottenham News: “It would be an absolutely fantastic signing which would excite the Tottenham fans, if they can get Eze. “Arsenal might be in there as well, so that price is probably going to go up. He is still pretty young, big talent, so you would think that the fee would be north of £70million. “If you are a Tottenham fan right now, you would be hoping beyond hope that they can land him; he is an elite-level player; he is a Champions League, international-level player.” Spurs move would be ideal for Eze Tottenham will be able to provide him with UEFA Champions League football, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Eze registered 25 goal contributions last season. Competing alongside top-quality players at a big club could bring out the best in him. He has already won the FA Cup and Community Shield with Crystal Palace. He will now look to take the next step and win bigger trophies at a top club. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can win the race for him.

Perhaps Superman Paul Skenes has found his kryptonite

Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes may continue to be one of the top contenders for the National League Cy Young Award, but there is one place where he has appeared mortal this season. On Tuesday night, the Milwaukee Brewers did to Skenes what they have done to plenty of MLB pitchers in 2025 ... put up big offensive numbers. For the second time this season (Skenes also pitched in Milwaukee on June 25), the Brewers forced him from the game after just 4.0 innings on Tuesday night, logging six hits and four runs during his time on the mound. Both of those performances came at Milwaukee's home stadium (American Family Field) and both are now Skenes' shortest outings of the season. While another NL Central team has put up more runs against Skenes this season (the St. Louis Cardinals nicked him for five runs in 6.0 innings on April 8), no other team has had the same kind of success over multiple starts by Skenes in 2025 as have the Brewers inside their home stadium. In all this season, Skenes has given up 10 hits and eight runs in 8.0 innings in Milwaukee. It was his third career outing on the road against the Brewers, with his lone 2024 start representing arguably the best outing of his rookie season. On July 11, 2024, Skenes struck out 11 and didn't allow a hit over 7.0 innings as the Pirates would eventually post a 1-0 victory. Tuesday's short outing was highlighted by a pair of Milwaukee home runs, including a leadoff solo shot by Sal Frelick that quickly set the tone for the Brewers. While Milwaukee's hit parade helped raise Skenes' ERA on the season to 2.13, it's hardly any reason for concern in a season where the 23-year-old right-hander is still a heavy favorite (-600) to win the NL Cy Young Award, per BetMGM. Skenes struggling in Milwaukee is likely more yet another stamp of approval on the Brewers' potential to be a threat once the postseason arrives. With an 18-4 record since the All-Star break entering Tuesday, Milwaukee has taken over the NL Central race from the Chicago Cubs. So what's the good news for Skenes? This is Pittsburgh's last trip to Milwaukee this season and the next-to-last series for the Pirates against the red-hot Brewers. Milwaukee will visit PNC Park for a three-game series on Sept. 5-7, and if Skenes gets a chance for revenge against Milwaukee, there couldn't be a better place for him to take the mound. This season, in 11 starts covering 68.2 innings, Skenes has a 1.70 ERA in the Steel City.

Jon Gruden 'looking forward to having the truth come out' amid lawsuit against NFL

Jon Gruden sent another warning shot toward the NFL after scoring a major win in court. On Tuesday, Gruden welcomed a ruling that will force the NFL to litigate the circumstances of his firing in court rather than closed-door arbitration. The former Las Vegas Raiders coach made it clear that he intends to continue his legal challenge to the NFL, ensuring that they are held accountable. “I’m looking forward to having the truth come out, and I want to make sure what happened to me doesn’t happen to anyone else,” Gruden said in a statement provided to ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr. “The league’s actions disrupted the whole season. We were leading the division at the time and they completely blindsided me and the team.” The Raiders were 3-1 in 2021 when Gruden was forced to resign after offensive emails he had sent between 2011 and 2018 were leaked. Gruden has alleged that the NFL leaked the emails to force him out of a job after obtaining them during an investigation into the Washington Commanders. The NFL is set to appeal Monday’s ruling, but if that appeal fails, the league may be forced into public discovery. One alternative would be to offer Gruden a settlement, but he has not said whether or not he would be interested in such a resolution. Gruden has not held an NFL coaching job since the Raiders forced him out. He has recently spoken about possibly making a return to coaching at the college level.

Milwaukee Brewers: Player Leaves Game With Concerning Head Injury Amid Crew’s Tuesday Win vs. Pirates

The Milwaukee Brewers came out on top once again on Tuesday, sending yet another strong statement to the rest of the big leagues in the form of a 14-0 drubbing of the Pittsburgh Pirates at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The Brewers have now won 11 straight games, while improving to 75-44 overall. As for the Pirates, they have lost their fourth consecutive contest while dropping to 51-70. Making the night even worse for the Pirates was the apparent head injury suffered by outfielder Oneil Cruz. He collided with teammate Jack Suwinski in the fourth inning as both players tried to make a defensive play. Cruz stayed in the game for a bit but was removed in the sixth inning for pinch-hitter and veteran Tommy Pham. The Pirates have yet to disclose the exact nature of Cruz’s injury, so it’s possible that he could be ruled out for the series finale this Wednesday. So far in the 2025 MLB regular season, the 26-year-old Dominican is leading the Pirates with 18 home runs to go with 51 RBIs, but is also hitting just .207/.304 /398. Milwaukee Brewers aiming for a Pirates sweep All eyes will once again be on the Brewers this Wednesday, as they have a chance to stretch their win streak to a dozen games and add more to their lead atop the National League Central standings. After Paul Skenes failed to deliver on the mound for the Pirates on Tuesday, Pittsburgh will have Mitch Keller toeing the rubber. Keller was solid in his previous start versus the Brewers, pitching six innings of one-run ball while striking out seven hitters in a 2-1 victory at home back in May. As for Milwaukee, it will give the ball to Brandon Woodruff, who is 1-0 with a 3.12 ERA in three starts at home, thus far this season.
