Pep Guardiola didn’t respond to Alexander-Arnold’s comments but no doubt he’s taken note of them

Pep Guardiola refused to respond to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s comments about the apparent differences between Manchester City and Liverpool’s recent success. The comments from the England international have become part of the build-up to Sunday’s massive Premier League match. But it would appear that Pep Guardiola has taken note of the jabs aimed at his team.

The City manager refused to comment at all on Alexander-Arnold’s comments. The Liverpool full-back believes that his team’s success means more given the financial situation of both clubs. Instead of responding to the comments Guardiola only answered: “I wish him a speedy recovery and he comes back to the pitch as soon as possible.”

While Pep Guardiola refused to respond to Alexander-Arnold’s assertion in Four Four Two magazine it can be rest assured that the City boss has taken note of them. If Guardiola can turn the Liverpool full-back’s comments into fuel to inspire his team he may seize upon that opportunity.

Manchester City and Liverpool games are typically decided by small margins. It could be a defensive error or a moment of magic that determines the outcome of tomorrow’s match. This time it could be some pre-game comments that make City strive an extra yard for three points tomorrow.  If Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pre-game comments can give City an edge in any way possible there’s no doubt that Pep Guardiola will seize upon it.
