Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma needs to sort out his future before the transfer window shuts

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has failed to live up to the expectations at N17 following his high-profile switch from Brighton in 2022. The Mali international has been in and out of the team under various managers at the club, and has never really made the starting spot his own. And it is fair to say that the fans have run out of patience with the 28-year-old.

But it is important to note that Bissouma played a crucial part in helping Spurs win the Europa League last season. The Mali international was tasked to feature in the starting eleven during the latter stages of the competition as the club endured an injury crisis. And he took the opportunity with both hands and flourished for the North London club, helping the Lilywhites end their trophy drought.

However, Bissouma’s disciplinary issues have always been a problem, and he was banished from the squad because of that for Thomas Frank’s first game in charge this season. The Mali international has since been told that he has no role under the Danish tactician, and he needs to find a new club before the transfer window shuts.

Yves Bissouma needs to leave Tottenham for regular game time

There is not a long time left before the transfer window shuts, and Tottenham have still not managed to sell Yves Bissouma. It was reported earlier that Galatasaray had agreed a loan deal to land the Mali international earlier this week, with the player agreeing personal terms as well. However, the deal fell through after the Turkish giants backed out after reporting concerns about the 28-year-old’s physical issues.

Now, John Wenham has urged Bissouma to resurrect the move to Turkey if he wants regular game time. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,

“I thought Galatasaray was the perfect move for him. He’d be at a big club playing Champions League. There’s money there. Maybe it’ll be resurrected, and maybe it’s more of a trying to lock the price move.”

The Lilywhite Rose owner added,

“So I still think that’d be a good move for him. But if not, he does need to secure a move somewhere because I just don’t see him getting any football.”

John Wenham believes moving to Galatasaray would have been ideal for Yves Bissouma as he would have played Champions League football. The Lilywhite Rose owner also adds that the transfer would have ensured Spurs would get a significant fee for the Mali international before his contract expires next summer. Wenham indicates that Bissouma needs to find an exit before the window shuts if he wants regular game time this season.

The clock ticks on as Yves Bissouma tries to find a new club for this season. The 28-year-old’s preference is to stay in the Premier League, as he would get a UK Visa if he stays in England for another year. So, it remains to be seen what the Mali international decides to do in the coming hours, as he tries to sort out his future at N17.
