Wrexham dropped further out of the play-off spots following a 2-0 defeat at Birmingham. Now four points behind Hull City, Phil Parkinson’s side struggled to find their footing after a heavy 5-1 loss to Southampton earlier in the week.

Despite a scoreless first half kept intact by Arthur Okonkwo’s saves, Wrexham could not hold off a determined Birmingham side.

Goals from Carlos Vicente and Christoph Klarer in the second half secured the win for the hosts, who entered the match looking to snap a three-game losing streak.

Wrexham’s attack struggled throughout the 90 minutes, failing to register a single shot on target.

The lack of offensive pressure meant Birmingham goalkeeper James Beadle went largely untested, leaving the Red Dragons with plenty of questions as they head into the final stretch of the Championship season.

Parkinson Remains Defiant Despite Wrexham Defeat

Phil Parkinson insists Wrexham remain in the play-off hunt despite the setback at Birmingham. The manager remains confident in his squad's ability to bounce back as they enter the final four games of the season.

"We're not down and out yet. The positive is that we've come to Birmingham, a team who were a long way ahead of us last year points-wise and we're ahead of them in the division, and we're the team still with a chance of the play-offs,” Parkinson said.

Acknowledging that outsiders may be skeptical, the 58-year-old emphasized that the morale within the club remains high.

"It's not over yet. People will probably write us off and you can understand that to a certain degree. But inside the dressing room, we're not writing ourselves off and we're one win away from getting ourselves going again."

Having secured consecutive promotions with the club, Parkinson reflected on the progress made so far while demanding a higher standard for the remaining fixtures.

"We have got pride in the dressing room, pride in the staff and we can do better, but we have still had a good season to this point,” he said. "Now we have got to finish it off in these four games and wherever that takes us, we have just got to make sure that the performances have a better feel to them than they have done in the last two."

Wrexham will look to get back on track when they host Stoke City on Saturday, April 18.
