Filippo ‘Pippo’ Inzaghi has been officially announced as the new head coach of Serie B side Palermo, just a matter of weeks after he won promotion from the second division with Pisa.
Inzaghi has put pen to paper on a ‘multi-year contract’ with Palermo, the club have confirmed in an official statement.
According to recent reports, Palermo agreed to pay the release clause believed to be worth €1m, which freed the coach from his contract with Pisa.
Inzaghi guided Pisa to a second-place finish in Serie B in 2024-25, which was enough to secure promotion to Serie A along with champions Sassuolo, ending the club’s 34-year absence from the top flight.
Pisa finished the 2024-25 campaign with 76 points, made up of 23 wins, seven draws and eight losses. They finished six points off the lead, but 10 points clear of third-placed Spezia.
Palermo, meanwhile, finished the 2024-25 campaign in eighth place in Serie B, one point shy of the play-off positions.
Palermo will be the ninth club that Inzaghi has taken charge of during his managerial career. The 52-year-old also has Milan, Venezia, Bologna, Benevento, Brescia, Reggina, Salernitana and the aforementioned Pisa on his CV.
