Cagliari have formally appointed Fabio Pisacane as their new coach, the 39-year-old former defender promoted from the youth team job.
The Sardinians had secured their Serie A safety under Davide Nicola, but it was decided by mutual consent that they would part ways at the end of their one and only season together.
Football Italia had already given exclusive details of the agreement with Pisacane, which were confirmed by a club statement today.
He has signed a contract to June 2026, which has an automatic renewal clause for one more season if they avoid relegation.
It is a special club for Pisacane, who made over 150 competitive appearances for Cagliari as a defender from 2015 to 2021.
He retired after a brief spell at Lecce in February 2022 and went straight into management at Cagliari, acting as part of the staff for Fabio Liverani, Claudio Ranieri, Roberto Muzzi and Matteo Battilana.
The Neapolitan became coach of the Under-19 squad in 2023 and took them to victory in the Coppa Italia Primavera youth tournament this season.
