Oliver Glasner is one of many managerial targets in line to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou might be running out of goodwill in North London. Tottenham’s latest 1-0 loss to Chelsea was already a bitter pill to swallow for fans, but it was the manager’s reaction that truly poured salt in the wound. His choice to gesture toward the travelling supporters—already seething from a flat performance—only deepened the disconnect between the dugout and the stands.

At a time when tensions are high and results are crumbling, Postecoglou’s actions came across as tone-deaf. Spurs fans wanted fight and unity, not theatrics. Instead, what they got was a moment that felt more like a soap opera than top-flight football. And with Daniel Levy watching closely, this might be the slip that tips the balance.

The Tottenham manager cupped his ears while facing the Spurs fans after Pape Matar Sarr scored an equalizer against the Blues. But the goal was eventually ruled out and Ange Postecoglou was made to look silly doing his celebration. This set off the Spurs fans, and Ange lost the few fans that backed him by doing that celebration. Now it just seems like the end of the road is near for the 59-year-old after a 16th league defeat this season.

Tottenham target Oliver Glasner wants Crystal Palace assurances

Oliver Glasner’s impact at Crystal Palace has been nothing short of transformative. Since replacing Roy Hodgson just over a year ago, the Austrian has injected a new sense of belief and structure into the team. His tactical discipline and man-management have revitalised the squad, and guiding the Eagles to the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley is a testament to the progress under his watch. It’s clear that Palace are no longer just looking to survive—they’re aiming to compete.

However, many top clubs, including Tottenham, are impressed with what the 50-year-old has done in his short time at Palace. Spurs have been long-time admirers of Oliver Glasner and are circling around hoping that a breakthrough in negotiations will be possible.

But Oliver Glasner intends to stay in South London amid the Tottenham links. The only hurdle is that the Austrian manager wants assurances from Crystal Palace that the club are going to regularly compete for European competitions every season. Also, the former Frankfurt boss wants to keep a hold of the highly rated Adam Wharton for one more season, amid transfer links looming around the England international.

Tottenham manager situation….

It is an open secret that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is looking for managerial replacements in case Ange Postecoglou fails to get the desired results. With Ange’s future depending on how his side performs in the Europa League this season, Levy has been in talks with numerous managers to take over at N17.

The Telegraph reported earlier that Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola and Fulham boss Marco Silva are both favourites to land the Spurs job if Big Ange gets the sack. But there are more names on the shortlist as well. Former Barcelona manager and player Xavi Hernandez and current USMNT boss and former Spurs favourite Mauricio Pochettino have both been linked with the Spurs job in recent weeks.

With results slipping away, Ange Postecoglou knows time is running out. The upcoming Europa League quarter-final against Eintracht Frankfurt could be a defining moment for both his tenure and Tottenham’s season. Amid growing fan unrest, the Spurs boss has called on supporters to rally behind the team, urging unity as they enter a crucial stretch. It’s a bold plea, but one that reflects the stakes—this is no longer just about results, but about keeping the club’s ambitions alive.
